In a nod to the dedication of HTX’s engineers and scientists, seven Xponents picked up the Minister for Home Affairs National Day Awards (MNDA) (Individual) during the Home Team National Day Observance Ceremony on 1 Aug 2025.
The award is bestowed on individuals who have made exceptional contributions to enhancing the Home Team’s capabilities.
The awardees this year are:
- Kee Ein Cern, Deputy Director (Profiling), Biometrics & Profiling Centre of Expertise
- Tng Chung Siong, Deputy Director (Vehicles), Platform Systems
- Jerome Koh, CBRNE Scientist, CBRNE Centre of Expertise
- Lim Berdick, Head, Systems & Applications, ICT Solutions, CNPMC
- Chew Chuan San, Lead Engineer, Central Services, ICT Infra
- Tan Si Ling, Serene, Lead Engineer, Governance & Control, Platform Systems
- Njo Rinaldi Widyanto, Senior Technical Officer, Sustainment, Ground Systems, RAUS CoE

Before the ceremony, Ein Cern spoke to the media about how he harnesses behavioural science and AI to help the Home Team make sharper credibility assessments in critical situations. He also shared how he has been cultivating the profiling ecosystem with AI-powered detectors as the hub. This will reshape the way Home Team officers detect deception and assess risk on the ground.
In April this year, Ein Cern and his team organised a networking event – Investigators’ Connect – for investigators in the Home Team and WOG to come together to discuss emerging tech and to share their experiences.
Ein Cern said he is grateful for the support and guidance provided by his director and senior management throughout his journey of setting up HTX’s profiling capabilities, and added that his tireless colleagues have been instrumental in pushing the boundary of technology in the quest to advance Science and Technology for the Home Team.
The award is a testament to the work which my colleagues and I do for the Home Team, day-in and day-out. I am very humbled and truly grateful for the recognition. But I’m driven not by wanting to win awards or being recognised for my efforts – I’m always looking to create a critical capability like no other that would empower the Home Team.

Serene shared the same sentiments, noting that her team at Platform Systems has been nothing but supportive of her growth as a leader and engineer.
Another driving factor behind her determination to produce exceptional work, she added, is the sense of purpose she derives from her job.
“Knowing that my work helps the Singapore Police Force better enhance public safety is a big motivation to do my job well. The dynamic nature of the job also compels me to constantly seek out new skills to master and new perspectives to embrace,” she said.
“Winning this award will certainly motivate me to do even better in the future!”

A sense of purpose also rings true for Jerome, who said that knowing how the CBRNE CoE’s work can prevent or mitigate the effects of a potential real-world threat is what drives him to excel in his role.
“I’m driven by the belief that my work contributes to something meaningful. Knowing that what I do have a real-world impact, no matter how small, keeps me committed. I don’t see this award as just a recognition of my efforts. I also see it as a reminder that what I do here at HTX matters to the nation.”
