- Mr Tan Chye Hee will be appointed as Chairman of the HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) Board of Directors with effect from 1 October 2025.
- Mr Tan will succeed Mr Aubeck Kam, who served as Chairman from 1 November 2022. Under Mr Kam’s leadership, HTX made huge advances in the application of science and technology for the Home Team’s mission, such as the New Clearance Concept, which allows for faster and more secure automated immigration clearance, and the set-up of FIRST (Forensic Innovation and Research for Strategic Transformation), an advanced forensic research and development laboratory to help MHA’s fight against synthetic drugs and other emerging crimes. There has also been significant progress in the development of the Home Team’s AI capabilities, and the Home Team’s deployment of AI to enhance public safety and security, driven by HTX.
- Mr Tan was appointed Director, Internal Security Department in 2020. Prior to that, he had served in leadership positions in the domains of intelligence, investigations, operations, technology and training in the Singapore Police Force. Mr Tan was Deputy Commissioner (Investigations & Intelligence) and concurrently the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, he was the Director of the Police Intelligence Department from 2012 to 2014. Mr Tan had also served stints in the Ministry of Home Affairs HQ and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
- Mr Tan will be appointed as Permanent Secretary (Home Affairs Development), Ministry of Home Affairs, and concurrently Permanent Secretary (Information and Development), Ministry of Digital Development and Information, with effect from 1 Oct 2025.
