From building robust infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) to cutting-edge developments in generative AI to accelerating innovation through AI testing, attendees of HTX’s AI TechXplore (TXP) were treated to invaluable insights to a host of topics by academic and industry experts over two days.

While the main exhibition zone featuring cutting-edge AI projects was located at the ground floor, the event space up on the fifth floor hosted an exhibition of HTX’s history and work, as well as a series of engaging tech talks that were so popular most attendees had to register to guarantee their seats.

Tan Boon Leong, VP/Head of DeepBrain (Data Science & Information) at ST Engineering, kicked off the series with his presentation on how organisations can operationalise AI effectively, including building robust infrastructure for AI initiatives and aligning these initiatives with business objectives and governance frameworks.

Miguel Fernandes, a Technical Partner at Resaro, then discussed how AI testing is essential for accelerating innovation. While some might believe that AI testing and governance can block innovation, he explained that these can instead ensure that AI development is sustainable, responsible, and effective by mitigating risks such as bias and unpredictability.

Dr Deb Goswami, Senior Technologist – Generative AI & Big Data, APAC, at Nvidia closed the first day of tech talks with his presentation on AI agents, one of the hottest developments in AI. The audience also got to learn about AI-Q, NVIDIA’s new blueprint for developing agentic systems that can use reasoning to unlock knowledge in enterprise data.

The second day of tech talks opened with Professor Chen Change Loy from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Professor Chen, who is also the President’s Chair in Computer Science, Deputy Director for the Centre of AI-for-X, and the NTU Co-Associate Lab Director of the S-Lab for Advanced Intelligence, shared with the audience cutting-edge developments in generative AI for vision applications, including controllable image and video synthesis, visual content restoration, and diffusion-based visual content editing.

A team of presenters from HTX’s xDigital division, led by their Acting Director Joseph Tan, then gave a detailed presentation on HTX's approach, considerations, and progress in building a digital suite of tools for the Home Team, including AI solutions like Paperwork and Teammate.

Next, Dr Miles Wen, the Co-Founder and CEO of Fano, shared with the audience his company’s voice recognition solutions in public safety and regulatory environments, including safeguarding against emerging threats like deepfake audio and voice fraud.

Wang Jia Hong, the Market Partner – Digital Application Management Operations of Thoughtworks, concluded the talks with his insightful presentation on what it means to maintain software in today’s world. According to him, organisations that want to remain agile, responsive, and resilient need to carefully engineer their existing software to reduce technical debt, enhance quality, and strengthen architecture.

In between the tech talks, the audience even had opportunities to enjoy refreshments and collect souvenirs of their visit to AI TXP!
