HTX Chief Executive (CE) Chan Tsan recently led an official visit to Australia in August. The delegation met with government agencies including Australian Federal Police (AFP), Australian Border Force (ABF), Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) as well as industry partners.

Strengthening international partnerships

At a meeting with AFP, CE Chan Tsan and AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw re-affirmed their commitment to collaborating on science and technology for public safety.

Their meeting follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AFP and HTX in August 2021 – HTX’s very first MOU (and inked during the COVID-19 pandemic) – to cooperate on science & tech.

Innovating new capabilities with science & tech

The HTX delegation visited the new AFP National Forensics Rapid Lab at the New South Wales Regional Processing Mail Centre and AFP’s forensics complex at Majura, where the delegation met AFP’s technology detection dogs that have been specially trained to sniff out hidden technology devices such as SIM cards and USBs.

“I look forward to what our agencies can achieve with science & tech to enhance the safety of our communities,” CE Chan Tsan said.

Expanding networks

CE Chan Tsan also called on ABF Commissioner Michael Outram APM during the trip. They discussed many common areas of interest for future collaborations between ABF, DHA, and HTX, including screening and detection capabilities, biometrics for immigration, and robotics.
