Hyper-realistic training manikins, a breathalyser test for cannabis and other drugs, an artificial intelligence (AI) system that can determine the time and location of a photo without metadata – these were some of the cutting-edge technologies
showcased by the startups in Hatch’s Dimension X cohort 3 at their Demo Day on 29 October 2024.
Hatch Director Mok Shao Hong described this cohort as comprising “some of the most exciting projects for Hatch to date, with the ten proofs-of-concept spanning across all three of our Digital, Engineering and Science domains”, and remarked at how they push “the boundaries of Public Safety”.
“This intake is also our largest to date, and is double the size of our previous cohorts,” Shao Hong added. “It has been really rewarding seeing how the Home Team innovates with global start-ups with such speed and agility, and I am
looking forward to Hatch collaborating with, and enabling even more of, the Home Team — and seeing these technologies accelerate into operational solutions and capabilities in the future!”

The first startup to present at Demo Day was SpectraCann which has developed a breathalyser for on-site drug testing. Powered by quantum optics, its portable breathalyser employs an identification and classification algorithm to analyse spectral data for detection of cannabis (i.e. tetrahydrocannabinol) in breath samples. nami showcased its IoT/sensor fusion platform that transforms systems and devices into intelligent sensing tools for security, energy saving, and health care. Barricade AI works with law enforcement agencies to automate incident reporting from video footage, e.g. body-worn cameras. - Cyberbee. Development of vision-based navigation and localisation technology in GNSS-denied environments such as indoor environments.
- Flyz Robotics. Remote deployment of sensor packages on vertical surfaces using drones.
- Neural Guard. AI augmented automated X-Ray baggage screening for explosive threats.
- Vayyar. Breeze-through scanning of travellers at checkpoints.
- Wonder Robotics. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-free drone navigation and landing.
- Abax. Multi-speaker audio diarisation.
- Epic Blue. Real-time indoor location tracking and monitoring of frontline officers.
- GaitMetrics. Remote sensors for real-time bedside activity monitoring and fall detection in prison wards.
- M-CADOR. Rapid indoor people counting from multiple video feeds.
- Opsis. Detection of stress signals from facial expressions for frontline officer well-being and support.
- Speechmatics. Transcription of multi-lingual and colloquial conversations.
